Soundfront homes are located directly on the sound, on the west side of NC 12. There may or may not be direct access to the sound, depending on the home. See how we categorize every home on our home locations page.
Soundside homes are also west of NC 12, but they aren't directly on the water. They may or may not have direct access to the sound, and may have partial sound views depending on the home. Some communities offer shared soundside amenities, so check each listing.
Soundfront homes are on the west side of NC 12, so the ocean beach is across the road. If you'd like the ocean out front, see our oceanfront rentals.
There are public boat ramps in Corolla, the 4x4 beaches, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Manteo. Some communities restrict parking boat trailers at the home, so please check with our office before your visit. See our boating guide.
